Library Course Materials (LCM) by Leganto

Create Reading Lists using the Library Course Materials tool in Canvas. This tool integrates electronic articles, streaming media, digitized content, physical materials, and more into a single list so students can access all their course materials in one

Digitization Requests

Note: Regarding these requests, we are asking the following:

  • Due to copyright law- No more than 10 % of the total work, or a maximum of 50 pages, be requested for digitization per physical item.
  • Please allow a minimum of 5 business days for processing the request.

 

1. You can search for library materials in LCM to add to your reading list sections and placedigitization request.


2. Click the blue Add Items + button to gain access to this feature.


3. To the right of your section, select Find a Library Resource to search within the libraries collection.

Note: Only items that are owned by SJSU, and are within our physical collection, can be requested for digitization.

 

4. Search for physical items in the catalog by title or ISBN using the "San Jose State Collections" scope and add the desired resource to the reading list.

 

 

 

 

 

5. You’ll be greeted with a pop up window asking to indicate which course reserves service is needed for your citation. Select “Digitize pages or Chapters,” then click Confirm.

A Digitization request tag is created!

 

 

6. Now click on the title of the citation you've requested digitized chapters/pages of, in your reading list.

 

 

 

Then scroll down to select “Digitization Request.”

 

 

The Ask Library for Digital Copies dialog box appears.

 

7. Enter the date range for when the digital copies will be available to students.


8. Tick the "Includes image(s)" checkbox if the digitization request includes images.


9. Enter the chapter number(s) and up to two page ranges to digitize.


10. Enter up to three notes with additional instructions for the library.


11. When you are done, click Submit to submit the request.
