Library Course Materials (LCM) by Leganto

Use the Library Course Materials tool in Canvas to create reading lists that combine electronic articles, streaming media, digitized content, and physical materials into one place for easy student access.

Digitization Requests

Regarding these requests, we are asking the following:

  • Due to copyright law- No more than 10 % of the total work, or a maximum of 50 pages, be requested for digitization per physical item.
  • Please allow a minimum of 5 business days for processing the request.

Overview: We will search for library-owned materials in LCM, add them to your reading list and place a Digitization Request.

Instructions:
  • Click the blue Add Items + button.
  • To the right of your screen, select Find a Library Resource to search within the libraries collection.

Note: Only items that are owned by SJSU, and are within our physical collection, can be requested for digitization.

  • Search for physical items in the catalog by title or ISBN using the "San Jose State Collections" scope and add the desired resource to the reading list.

  • You’ll be greeted with a pop up window asking to indicate which course reserves service is needed for your citation. Select “Digitize pages or Chapters,” then click Confirm.

  • Now click on the title of the citation you've requested digitized chapters/pages of, in your reading list.

  • Then scroll down to select Digitization Request.

When the Ask Library for Digital Copies dialog box appears, continue as follows:

  • Enter the date range for when the digital copies will be available to students.
  • Tick the Includes image(s) checkbox if the digitization request includes images.
  • Enter the chapter number(s) and up to two page ranges to digitize.
  • Enter up to three notes with additional instructions for the library.
  • When you are ready, click Submit to complete the request.
