Use Interlibrary Loan for Special Requests

Can't find what you're looking for in our Catalog?  If so, then use Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad) to special order your request.

Interlibrary Loan (sometimes called document delivery) is a service whereby SJSU Library patrons can borrow books, videos, DVDs, sound recordings, microfilm, or receive electronic copies of articles in journals that are owned by another library.

How to place a request:

  • Placing an Interlibrary Loan Request: First you will need an ILLiad account to place requests. To create an account, go to the ILLiad website and log in using your SJSUOne ID and password.
  • Request Limits: There are no request limits.
  • Cost: Most requests are free. SJSU Library does pay for most ILLiad costs but if a library has high lending fees, we will contact you in advance to confirm whether or not you are willing to pay the fees.
  • Waiting Period: In most cases, physical items such as books, videos, DVDs, sound recordings, and microfilms, are received in 7 to 10 business days. Electronic copies of articles usually take 2 to 3 business days.  There is no guarantee that the requested material will be located.
