Finding journal articles related to a nursing theory or theorist

You can search for articles related to a specific nursing theory or theorist by using the CINAHL Subject Headings search in the CINAHL database. Enter either the theory/model name or the theorist's last name in the search field. Finding primary sources

In Nursing Theory a Primary Source is:

  • The original publication of a theory.
  • Could be a book, journal article, essay, etc.
  • Must be written by the theorist.

Whereas a Secondary Source is:

  • Something about the theory written by someone else, i.e. not the theorist.
  • Could be a book, journal article, essay, etc.
