The Researcher Workbench is a cloud-based platform (on Google Cloud) where registered researchers can access Registered and Controlled Tier data.

Here are the steps for utilizing the Researcher Workbench for a research project:

Step 1: Create a workspace

All Researcher Workbench analyses happen within the context of a workspace. A workspace is your place to store and analyze data for a specific project. You can share this workspace with other users, allowing them to view or edit your work.

Step 2: Select participants and variables for your analysis

Now that you have created a workspace, one of the first things you may want to do is build a cohort. The Cohort Builder tool provides a point-and-click interface that allows you to include and/or exclude the types of participants you want to study.

Now that you have a cohort, you can build your dataset using the Dataset Builder tool. A dataset takes the list of participants that fall within your cohort criteria and allows you to look at specific aspects of their health or survey data.

Step 3: Export and analyze your data in workbench applications -- RStudio Or Jupyter Notebooks

All analyses using the All of Us dataset occur in the Researcher Workbench within either RStudio or Jupyter Notebook.
