All of Us (AoU) Research Program - NIH

SJSU's AoU Faculty Learning Community

We are pleased to announce the establishment of the inaugural Equity in Health Data Faculty Learning Community (FLC). This community is made possible through the All of Us Researcher Academy Institutional Champion Award, which provides funding to build institutional capacity for stakeholders to access and utilize the All of Us dataset. San José State University has been selected as a 2024 Institutional Champion, one of six Hispanic-serving Institutions to receive this distinction as part of the program’s third cohort.

Ten faculty members representing seven departments have been selected to participate in this initiative. The FLC's primary focus is to equip faculty with the necessary skills for accessing and analyzing data from the All of Us project, enabling them to integrate this data into their Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activities. Faculty will engage in a series of synchronous meetings, workshops, and mentoring sessions to support them in accessing the All of Us data, such as via training in data wrangling, analysis using tools such as R or Python, and exploring various health and biomedical topics.

By the end of the year, each participating faculty member will produce at least one scholarly output derived from their analysis of the All of Us dataset. Additionally, the FLC also creates a service opportunity for faculty through short-term student mentorship.
