The primary mission of the ICRM is to develop and administer the professional certification of Records and Information Managers including the relevant examinations and certification maintenance program. The ICRM serves as the official certifying body for both ARMA International and the Nuclear Information and Records Management Association (NIRMA). The iSchool and the Institute of Certified Records Managers (ICRM) have a strategic partnership that allows graduates of the MARA program, who have completed their course work and met established qualifications for ICRM candidacy, to apply for credit for Parts 1-5 of the ICRM exams.
NARA keeps only those Federal records that are judged to have continuing value—about 2 to 5 percent of those generated in any given year. Those valuable records are preserved and are available to the public.
