Business Research Guide

This guide will help you research on various business topics and disciplines

Locating Books and Ebooks

We have over three million books at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library, so you will want to find a way to narrow down your search results.

We suggest you start in OneSearch by entering your topic as a few keywords, such as Spain AND "banking crisis". Putting a phrase in quotes tells OneSearch to search on the phrase rather than each word separately. And be sure to capitalize connectors (AND, OR, and NOT).

On your results page, use the filters to the left to narrow your choices. Common filters are:

  • Books: This will limit your results to books and ebooks.
  • Full Text Online and Books: Choosing both of this filters limits your results to just ebooks.
  • Publication date: Market and industry data and trends should be limited to the last 2-3 years, management can be a bit older, up to 10 in general.
  • Subject tag: Take a look at the Subjects which are offered in your search filter. You may wish to narrow your focus to a subtopic such as Business, Economics, Management, or Culture.

And don't hesitate to reach out to the business librarians or the reference librarians -- we're here to help!
