To limit to Communication Journals in Google Scholar, find Advanced Search (under the lines on the upper left in Google Scholar) and put Communication in the "Return articles published in" box. To make sure a Journal is "Peer-Reviewed" or Refereed, go to Ulrich's (database) with the Journal Title. *Tip: If you don't see a link from SJSU, look under the double arrows (More) below the entry. Look for "GetIt@SJSU" for more information such as a print book or a link to Interlibrary Loan (to request a title).
Use Google Scholar:
You can search Google Scholar from the library's homepage and see the Find It@SJSU links without having to change your Google settings!
To find a specific article using Google Scholar, go to the library website and click on "Google Scholar "as seen above. Then, type the title of the article in the box using quotation marks around the title. Example: "Brand communities and new product adoption."
If the title was entered correctly, the result should look like this:
The FindIt@SJSU link takes you from Google Scholar directly into the King Library databases and to the full text of the article.
You may also see Get It@SJSU under the double-arrow icon. "Get It" means the King Library may or may not have the full text. "Get It" may also mean the resource you want is a physical item, such as a book. Books and articles not available at the King Library can be requested through Interlibrary Loan.
If you can't find the article searching for just the title, try the Advanced Search. Click on the Menu option in the upper left of the page and select Advanced Search. Enter as much information as you can in the search fields. Enter the title of the article under "with the exact phrase" for best results.
If the article is not available through the King Library, you can request it using Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad). This is a service that will e-mail you a copy of the article from another library.
