Occupational Therapy Research Guide

SJSU King Library Resource Guide for Occupational Therapy Students, Faculty, and Practitioners.

Welcome! About this Guide

Welcome!

Use this guide for research and writing in Occupational Therapy.

This guide was created to assist students and faculty in the Department of Occupational Therapy at SJSU with finding resources and understanding search methods to facilitate the study of occupational therapy.

Occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants help people participate in their desired occupations with the therapeutic use of everyday activities, based on the client's personal interests and needs. Occupational therapy (OT) considers the complex relationship between the client, the activity, and the environment in which the activity takes place.

Set Up Your Library Accounts

Your Library Account is the same as your SJSU One Account (Student/Faculty ID # and your SJSUOne Password).

CSU+ and Interlibrary Loan

CSU+ is a program that gives students, faculty, and staff access to over 29 million books across the entire CSU. You can request books from any of the other 22 California State University libraries and have them delivered to the SJSU Library within 2-5 days.

Interlibrary Loan allows you to borrow books, articles, dissertations, and more from libraries around the world. Please note, however, that Interlibrary Loan is a cooperative service; because some libraries remain closed or have staff limitations, requests may be delayed or remain unfulfilled.

Interlibrary Loan does not fill requests for:

  • Items already owned by the SJSU Library
  • Textbooks or items on Course Reserves
  • Exceptions for Distance Students
  • ILLiad FAQs

⇒New ILLiad Users: Log in with your MySJSU ID and password and fill out the "New User Registration" form.

Citation managers, such as Zotero and Paperpile, are programs that allow the users to collect, organize, and cite sources. They also allow for collaboration and some provide the ability to store and annotate PDFs within the system.

Why should you use a citation manager?
  • Organize sources using folders, tags, and even group libraries for collaboration with people across the world.
  • Many have browser extensions or integration with library software to make it easy to collect items when you are searching for information.
  • Many integrate with Google Docs and/or Microsoft Word to make it easy to cite sources while writing.

For more information and to compare citation management programs, please refer to the following research guide, Citation Managers.
