SJSU Digital Inclusion Hotspot Project

About the Project

The Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS) funded the Digital Inclusion Hotspot Project (DIHP), which provided students facing financial hardship or challenges related to the impact of COVID-19 with unlimited, high-speed data through Verizon Orbic hotspots to ensure reliable internet connectivity. The project launched in the Fall of 2021 and concluded in the Spring of 2023, successfully providing access to 100 hotspots per term for students.

This Project additionally provided students with information and education on digital literacy, intending to enhance their access to online academic resources. The education was delivered using Canvas Course modules developed by SJSU Librarian Adriana Poo and Student Technology Trainer Sharon Thompson.
