eBook Accessibility Project

EAP Overview

As part of San Jose State University’s Ebook Accessibility Project (EAP), 16 major academic ebook platforms were evaluated with the goal of allowing students and librarians to make more informed decisions about which platforms are most accessible and user friendly to students, particularly those with disabilities. EAP was funded by the California State University System’s Affordable Learning Solutions initiative, which works to give faculty and students greater access to quality free and low-cost learning materials.

Please Note: These platform evaluations were performed in June-August 2014. Newer versions of the platforms with additional features may have been implemented after this time. For additional ebook accessibility reviews, see the Ebook Audit 2016 at

The EAP was complete by Christina Mune and Ann Agee. We would like to thank them for all their efforts in completing this project.
