Library Course Materials (LCM) by Leganto

Use the Library Course Materials tool in Canvas to create reading lists that combine electronic articles, streaming media, digitized content, and physical materials into one place for easy student access.

Student View in LCM (New UI)

Instructor Mode vs. Student View:

Note: Instructors using the Instructor Student View mode in Canvas will not see the reading list, as the system does not display it in this view. If you try, you will see the following screen:

Instead, to see how students will view the list, follow the steps below:

1. View the List as a Student:

  • Within your reading list, click the ellipsis button (three dots) at the top right of your screen, then select View list as a student. This will show you how students will see the resources, sections, and any materials added.

  • This view ensures that the materials are properly visible and accessible to students before the course begins. If any issues arise, instructors can modify the settings to ensure smooth access.

2. Student Access:

  • In the student view, students will see the list name, items, and any associated sections, including visibility dates set by the instructor.
  • Students will be able to interact with the reading materials, such as viewing full-text articles, book chapters, or links to digital content.
  • Depending on the permissions set by the instructor, students can also mark items as read, comment on items, or suggest additional resources.
