Children's Literature Comprehensive Database (CLCD) This link opens in a new window
Search catalog records that have children's subject headings, from board books to YA fiction and nonfiction. Also contains critical reviews.
Book Review Digest Plus This link opens in a new window
Nearly eight decades of Book Review Digest, Book Review Digest Retrospective provides excerpts from, and citations to, reviews of adult and juvenile fiction and non-fiction.
Book Review Digest Retrospective: 1905-1982 This link opens in a new window
Indexes reviews of current fiction and non-fiction, and provides review excerpts and over 100,000 full text reviews.

Children's Literature Association
The Children’s Literature Association (ChLA) is a non-profit association of scholars, critics, professors, students, librarians, teachers and institutions dedicated to the academic study of literature for children. Scholarly resources can be found by clicking the Scholarly Resources link at the left of the homepage.
Children's Picture Book Database
Sponsored by Miami University. Indexes over 5,000 children's picture books. Search books by topic, keyword or author. Advanced searching also available.
Children's Literature Web Guide
Internet source for information on books for children and young adults. Contains quick links to popular topics in addition to resources for teachers, librarians, parents and students.
Cooperative Children's Book Center
Part of the School of Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the site provides various resources related to children's and young adult literature.
Database of Award Winning Children's Literature (DAWCL)
Children's Literature
This database has over 9,600 records from 106 awards across six English speaking countries. Instructions for searching the database and an explanation of the indexed awards is included
International Reading Association
The International Reading Association (IRA) is a comprehensive educational resource. Emphasis is on curriculum and literacy. Links to lesson plans, reading lists and resources by topic can be found at the left of the homepage.

The following are a number of scholarly journals related to the field of children's literature, and can be accessed as electronic resources via the King Library catalog for SJSU students and staff.

Bookbird: A Journal of International Children's Literature
Issued by the International Board on Books for Young People and the International Institute for Children's, Juvenile and Popular Literature. Includes international coverage of children's literature studies, awards and reading promotion.
Jeunesse: Young People, Texts, Cultures
An interdisciplinary, refereed academic journal whose mandate is to publish research on work for, by, and about young people. Scope is multicultural and international with emphasis on Canada.
Journal of Children's Literature
A refereed journal devoted to teaching and scholarship in the field of children's literature. Topics include research, theory, content analysis, instruction, and critical issues in children's literature. Available online only in eJournal format through various King Library databases.
The Horn Book Magazine
Publishes authoritative reviews of and articles about children's and young adult literature.
The Lion and the Unicorn (via Project Muse)

The Looking Glass: New Perspectives on Children's Literature
Covers multiple topics in children's literature from traditional to modern. Academic articles are peer-reviewed. Also includes informal observations. Coverage includes topics from pedagogy to illustration.
Marvels and Tales
An international and multidisciplinary peer-reviewed journal. Publishes scholarly work on fairy tales in any of their diverse manifestations and contexts. Excellent sourse for folklore, children's literature and traditional literature, as well as multidisciplinary studies.
New Review of Children's Literature and Librarianship
Published bi-annually, this scholarly journal features peer reviewed articles regarding children's literature and its use in library spaces and education.
