A Guide to Interdisciplinary Engineering

Getting Started with Library Accounts

To begin using the King Library and its resources, create the accounts listed in the tabs above.

Get access in OneSearch to e-books, articles, journals, and databases on and off-campus through the library website. Your Tower Card ID is your library card. Sign in with your SJSUOne ID and password.

Want access to San Jose Public Library materials?

Go to the 1st floor Circulation Desk and get an SJPL library card. You will be given a card and PIN to use the public resources (books, e-books, DVD's, articles and other e-learning sources).

RefWorks

RefWorks allows you to save and manage your citations online and to automatically generate bibliographies in APA style — a huge timesaver! To create an account:

  1. Go to RefWorks.
  2. Follow the directions in this video to create a new accountAn SJSU email address is required.
  3. You're done! To learn more, watch Learn to Use RefWorks in 20 Minutes

Note: While RefWorks is a great tool for generating your References page in APA style automatically, always double-check it! The information it uses to generate citations can sometimes be incomplete or in the wrong format. For new users, here's a help guide.

Set up an account with Interlibrary Services once you have your Library Account in order to access material not available at SJSU. Set your status correctly. Note: SJSU Distance indicates students or faculty members who are exclusively engaged in online classes.

Set your preferences in Google Scholar to connect to SJSU databases:

  1. Go to Google Scholar.
  2. Click on the three-bar icon on the top left of the page.
  3. Choose "Settings" and "Library Links"
  4. Type in: San Jose State University.
  5. Check the box for "San Jose State University – FindIt@SJSU" and Save.
  6. Again under "Settings" for Bibliography Manager, select "Show links to import citations into RefWorks"
  7. Click "Save"

Or go to the Google Scholar tutorial (4 min.) for a step by step view of this process. You can also search Google Scholar from the search box on the library website:
