New Faculty Funds

Informational page for new AY2023-2024 tenure-track faculty on using their University Library-provided $1,000

Eligible Faculty

New faculty who started in AY2023-2024 are eligible for a University Library award of $1,000. These funds are available to each new faculty member for one-time purchases in support of your research and/or teaching. You may also use the $1,000 to help offset any open access fees incurred between now and March 2024.

Contact your liaison librarian with a list of materials you're interested in. Your liaison will work with you to acquire the materials. You will be notified by email when the materials become available.

Eligible Expenses and Access

  • Books, ebooks
  • Streaming videos
  • Backfiles
  • Datasets (institutional access)
  • Article processing charges (APCs) for open access publications
  • Article submission charges from reputable, non-predatory journals

Materials should be suitable for adding to the library's physical or digital collection. Faculty may borrow materials for 1 year, with renewals available. Personal e-reader copies, such as Kindle, are not eligible for these funds.

The $1,000 must be spent by March 31, 2024. Effective April 1, 2024, these funds will revert to the University Library for discretionary collection spending.
