About ERC
Located on the fourth floor of King Library, the Educational Resource Center provides materials for students, educators, professors, parents, and all others interested in K-12 education in Silicon Valley.
The ERC contains the following collections:
- Award Winning Books - Award winning children's book (both fiction and nonfiction). These include many different award winners, including the Newbery, Caldecott, Belpre, and many other awards.
- Big Books - Oversize copies of children's books, often classics.
- California Adopted Textbooks - The California Department of Education web site has a database of adopted state textbooks and their prices. This database provides excellent information on what instructional materials are available. Those housed in King Library on the 4th floor have a 1 week loan period and may not be placed on hold. Faculty and grad students may check them out for longer loan periods. Older textbooks and those no longer adopted are located in the lower level of the King Library. Please note that due to the state budget crisis, there is currently a suspension on adopted textbooks until 2013/14. However, there are a number of free electronic textbooks available for Science, Math, and History online at the California Learning Resource Network: http://www.clrn.org/FDTI/
- Curriculum - Includes professional development materials based on current learning theory and research; also includes lesson planning materials for practical application in classrooms.
