Center for Education Policy Analysis – Stanford

Stanford's Center for Education Policy Analysis (CEPA), an independent research center has a special focus of attention to examine policies that promote and support highly effective teachers and school leadership. CEPA also looks more broadly at preschool through higher education policy in order to better understand how to promote educational opportunities and students' long-run success.

Center for Education Policy Research - Harvard

The Center for Education Policy Research is a unique partnership among districts, states, foundations, and university-based researchers designed to leverage the overwhelming amount of newly available school-, teacher-, and student-level data to address previously intractable policy questions in education and improve educational outcomes for all students.

Center of Education Policy - George Washington University

Founded in 1995, the Center acts as a unique communicator with educators and the general public on the most serious issues in education; as a catalyst to improve the academic quality of public education through working with states, school districts, and others; and as a convener of people with differing points of view about public education to foster a reasoned debate on the schools.

EdSource

EdSource works to engage Californians on key education challenges with the goal of enhancing learning success. It does so in three ways: providing timely, useful information to policymakers; advancing awareness among the larger public on complex education issues; and highlighting effective models and strategies intended to improve student outcomes.

Legislation, regulations, guidance, and other policy documents can be found at his site for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, No Child Left Behind, and other topics.Note that in the U.S., the federal role in education is limited. Because of the Tenth Amendment, most education policy is decided at the state and local levels. So, if there is a question about a policy or issue, please check with the California Department of Education.

National Education Policy Center

The mission of the National Education Policy Center (NEPC) is to produce and disseminate high-quality, peer-reviewed research to inform education policy discussions. NEPC is guided by the belief that the democratic governance of public education is strengthened when policies are based on sound evidence.

Policy Analysis for California Education (PACE)

Independent, non-partisan research center based at Stanford University, the University of California – Berkeley, and the University of Southern California. PACE seeks to define and sustain a long-term strategy for comprehensive policy reform and continuous improvement in performance at all levels of California’s education system, from early childhood to post-secondary education and training.

Public Policy Institute K-12 Education

Public Policy Institute of California (PPIC) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan think tank. Dedicated to informing and improving public policy in California through independent, objective, nonpartisan research.

RAND Education

RAND Education has applied its expertise to almost every aspect of the education system for more than three decades. The RAND Education is supported by the data found in the SJSU database, RAND CALIFORNIA.

The Stanford Center for Opportunity Policy in Education (SCOPE) was founded in 2008 to foster research, policy, and practice to advance high quality, equitable education systems in the United States and internationally.
